A Tour of Trackside Hotels by Sector
Sector 1: The Opening Corners
This is the sector of raw power and speed. After the initial jostling for position in the opening turns, the cars unleash their full potential down the long Raffles Boulevard straight. This is one of the track’s primary overtaking zones, making it a thrilling spot to watch drivers showcase their bravery and tactical skill. Hotels in this sector offer a fantastic perspective on this high-speed action.
The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
The unique layout of The Ritz-Carlton gives it the fantastic advantage of offering a choice between clear views of two different track sectors. Depending on your preference, you can book a room overlooking the fast sweep of Turn 5 or the action around Turn 15. Inside, the spacious rooms provide a serene escape, and the hotel is famous for its panoramic windows—even in the bathrooms—offering a luxurious bubble from which to watch the race. For a truly special escape, The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge on level 32 offers an exclusive, top-floor sanctuary with five daily culinary presentations. When you need a break from the engine sounds, the award-winning Ritz-Carlton Spa, one of the first La Mer hotel spas in the region, is the perfect place to unwind and recharge for the next session.
Moreover , my friend waited for about 10 minutes for the lift to get up to her room after breakfast (partly because a lot of people left about the same time when the breakfast closed at 10:30am.
The tables are quite nearby each other by a 5-6 star hotel. Overall, quite crowded feeling.
Quite impressed by the waiter Joseph with his good attitude, efficient and pleasant service and the good photos (with different angles) that he took for us. Thanks Joseph!
Special thanks to Clarice who assisted us with several things and made us feel welcomed and prioritized upon arrival!
The only issue we came across is we couldn’t set the room temperature as low as we typically sleep in (18 degrees). We called and they could only give us a standing fan which worked to cool down the room comfortably, but wish we had more control of the A/C system in room.
The in-room media casting could be improved as the TV Marriott portal doesn't always work consistently with the Chromecast for some reason. Overall a fantastic stay!
The room was spacious, clean, modern, and sleek. Given the rather hefty price tag for a night’s stay, this was very much expected. Overall, the service staff were friendly, proactive, and polite, which added positively to the experience.
Cons:
We stayed on the 10th floor and could constantly hear the howling of the wind (not sure if this is normal), along with faint construction sounds from the Marina Bay area. I was low-key relieved that this was only a one-night stay. On the day of checkout, we called to request a 30-minute extension as I was experiencing some stomach discomfort. Unfortunately, the staff member who answered the call rejected the request outright and informed us that a late fee would be charged if we wanted this extension. As a result, we rushed to check out. Some flexibility would have been appreciated.
Overall:
Worth visiting once for the stunning view—ideally after the surrounding construction is completed. For most people, a single stay should be sufficient unless you are comfortable with the rather posh pricing.
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay
This hotel is located right after Turn 6, offering views of the cars speeding along the key Raffles Boulevard straight. This stretch is a prime spot for overtaking, making it an exciting place to watch. The rooms are designed to be a comfortable refuge, with many featuring private balconies where you can step out and feel the atmosphere. Inside, the plush furnishings invite you to relax after a long day. The hotel’s most breathtaking feature is its soaring indoor atrium, filled with the sound of chirping birds from the hotel’s own songbird orchestra. It creates a serene, garden-like environment that feels miles away from the race. For a true escape, you can retreat to the hotel’s sprawling swimming pool, which glitters with 1,380 fiber optic lights at night, creating a tranquil, galaxy-like atmosphere far removed from the trackside energy.
Spacious, comfortable rooms with great views.
Some rooms overlook the marina.
Excellent service.
Pan Pacific Singapore
Located near Turn 6, rooms here provide a dynamic perspective of the cars on the main straight. The hotel’s recently renovated rooms are designed as calming sanctuaries, featuring large windows that not only frame the track action but also fill the space with natural light. It’s a comfortable and contemporary space, perfect for ordering from the extensive in-room dining menu and creating your own private viewing party. When you’re ready to step away from the race, you have several excellent options for relaxation. You could head to the outdoor pool for a swim, or simply lounge in one of the private cabanas. For a truly peaceful escape, we suggest finding a quiet corner at the elegant Atrium lounge for a relaxing cocktail, where the soaring space and calming water features offer a peaceful contrast to the trackside excitement.
Breakfast was by far the biggest disappointment and clearly below the standard one would expect from an upscale hotel. The breakfast area was consistently loud, crowded, and hectic, making it impossible to start the day in a relaxed way. Tables were often not cleaned or set when guests were seated, and clearing them sometimes took quite a while. When they were wiped down, it often felt rushed and superficial rather than properly cleaned.
Service during breakfast was poorly organized. Several waiters were constantly walking around but rarely took orders proactively; we had to actively approach staff to ask for coffee or assistance. On one occasion, we were seated at a table for two with only one chair and had to organize the second chair ourselves, as the staff member who promised to bring one never returned.
The food offering itself was heavily focused on Asian cuisine. There was cheese available, but no sliced cheese at all. Hummus was apparently available as well, but the buffet layout was so illogical that items were hard to find and poorly grouped. For Western guests, many basic options were missing or difficult to locate, including fresh vegetables such as tomatoes or cucumbers. The egg dishes were of low quality, and the coffee was uninspiring and served without much care. On the positive side, there was a good selection of pastries and a wide range of Asian dishes, which may appeal to guests who prefer that style of breakfast. Overall, however, the experience felt more like a busy canteen than a refined hotel restaurant. In our view, the entire breakfast concept would benefit from a fundamental rethinking — for both guests and staff.
The hotel’s location is acceptable, with public transportation reachable relatively quickly.
The rooms are modern and well designed but quite small, with limited storage space. Rooms facing the pool or terrace are visually appealing, but privacy is limited, as people can easily look inside when the curtains are open. A major positive point is the excellent sound insulation — we did not hear any noise from neighboring rooms at all. The blackout curtains, however, do not fully darken the room at the edges, making a sleep mask advisable.
The staff was generally friendly, although the breakfast team appeared clearly overworked and stressed.
The gym is well equipped with modern machines. At the pool, however, sun loungers are permanently reserved by guests without any visible fair-use policy, which significantly limits availability. Additionally, the area on the 18th floor was partially inaccessible due to private events. This was disappointing, as hotel guests are paying for these facilities, and the view from that area is one of the highlights of the property.
Very positive was the room upgrade, as well as early check-in and late check-out through Amex Fine Hotels, all of which worked smoothly and professionally.
Conclusion: The hotel has solid fundamentals — especially in terms of room quality, soundproofing, gym facilities, and certain service aspects. However, the poorly executed breakfast and some management issues noticeably detract from the overall experience.
now that I have arrived back in Austria, I am still very much under the spell of your fascinating and impeccable hotel. Stepping back into “reality” after my vacation, I am already immersed in tasks and projects, yet I felt it was important to take the time to share my feedback with you based on what truly was an unforgettable experience.
I am usually not a frequent luxury traveler, but I consciously saved up for this stay at your extraordinary urban garden palace and it exceeded every expectation.
Of course, no building, and especially no hotel, holds real value without its people. The staff is the true backbone of any company, and your team is unmistakably the soul of Pan Pacific Orchard. From the very first moment at the doorstep of this heavenly garden, I felt uniquely and genuinely welcomed. So many smiling faces in uniform, all radiating authentic care and attentiveness toward their guests.
I consider myself a very social person who connects easily with others, while also being sensitive to different personalities and levels of openness. With your staff, I felt deeply cared for and valued throughout my entire stay. I had the pleasure of meeting several incredible and truly lovely souls whom I already miss dearly.
For me, this is the true definition of luxury. Not only the architectural vision or the outstanding quality of the food, but above all the communication and connection between human beings. Your team demonstrates this with remarkable attention to detail, making guests feel safe, seen, and beyond comfortable.
The passion, dedication, and love that go into every little detail are palpable and make Pan Pacific Orchard one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever seen and felt. I genuinely fell in love with everything you provide, and I have not felt such a deep connection to a place or building in a very long time.
The room was in immaculate condition, and I already miss my balcony very much. There no way to fully express my gratitude.
Please extend my warmest greetings to Nelly, Shuresh, Paulyn, Krystil, and of course the entire team I had the pleasure of interacting with.
Much love from Austria, and see you again very soon.
Warm regards,
Dave❤️
Sector 2: The City Hall & Esplanade Stretch
Sector 2 is where the race weaves through the heart of Singapore’s historic civic district. This is a more technical and twisty part of the track, demanding immense precision from the drivers as they navigate past iconic colonial-era landmarks and over the historic Anderson Bridge. The views here are less about outright speed and more about appreciating the incredible skill it takes to pilot these machines through a challenging street circuit, all against a stunning architectural backdrop.
JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach
With views towards the straight between Turn 7 and Turn 8, and across to Esplanade Drive before Turn 14, the JW Marriott offers a chic and stylish race experience. The hotel itself is a showcase of art and design, with rooms that feel both modern and indulgent. You’ll find thoughtful touches like smart toilets and marble bathrooms, creating a comfortable and luxurious base for the weekend. When it’s time to relax, you have wonderful options. You can head up to the main pool and social space on Level 18 (Flow18) for stunning skyline views, or find a more tranquil escape at the second pool area on Level 6 (Ebb6). For a different kind of chilled vibe, you could visit The NCO Club for a sophisticated cocktail, or retreat to the hotel’s signature Spa by JW for a restorative treatment after a day of trackside excitement.
The breakfast @ The Beach Road Kitchen was amazing - It would be worth staying at a bad hotel
Love the spa. The lady was quite well trained with good strokes and firm hands, gave a really good massage.
The executive lounge is nice with afternoon cocktail and extensive selection of food from 17:30. With the food, I think you can even skip your dinner. That being said, it is kinda weird that before 14:30. There is almost zero snacks. There were some nuts in the jar, but when my friend wants to take some, a staff stopped him and said he can only take after 14:30, which seems really inflexible (given it's just some nuts).
For breakfast, if your room grants you access to the lounge, you can only eat at the lounge. Eating at the main restaurant would require additional 24 dollars per person, which is rather odd as most places would allow suite guests to eat at either one of the places.
Overall still an enjoyable stay.
Swissôtel The Stamford
As one of Southeast Asia’s tallest hotels, the Swissôtel The Stamford offers what is arguably the most breathtaking, bird’s-eye view of the Singapore Grand Prix. From a high floor here, your perspective is unmatched, giving you a unique, strategic overview of the action as cars navigate the sweep of Turns 7, 8, and 9, and the sequence around the Anderson Bridge from Turns 11 to 14. The hotel’s well-appointed rooms are comfortable sanctuaries, and many feature private balconies—the perfect spot to step out and feel the buzz of the city from your own private viewpoint. There’s a real sense of calm being so high above it all. For an unforgettable dining experience to match the view, SKAI on the 70th floor offers a stunning backdrop. And when you need to unwind, being part of the Raffles City complex means you can easily escape for a relaxing break, whether it’s at one of the shared outdoor swimming pools or with a rejuvenating treatment at the nearby Willow Stream Spa.
Fairmont Singapore
Located within the same Raffles City complex, the Fairmont Singapore offers a slightly different but equally compelling F1 experience. While not as towering as its sister hotel, its rooms still provide excellent track views, often feeling a little closer to the on-track action. Many of the hotel’s well-appointed rooms feature private balconies, perfect for stepping out to soak in the electric atmosphere with a drink in hand. The true benefit of choosing the Fairmont is its focus on wellness and relaxation. It is home to the renowned Willow Stream Spa—one of the largest in the city and a fantastic place to find tranquility with a massage or hydrotherapy session—which is conveniently accessible to guests across the complex. For dining, you have a world of choice, from the modern European fare at Prego to the elegant Anti:dote bar, known for its creative cocktails.
The cold plunge is more like an ambient temperature plunge—has not been cold the last several times I’ve been at this hotel which is too bad—likely a broken chiller. Additionally, the sauna never really seems to get quite hot enough for the amount of traffic it has.
Overall though, very solid hotel—I enjoy coming here, and I think they could elevated the experience with these few small changes for improvement.
The Fullerton Hotel Singapore
For a touch of timeless elegance, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore offers a truly iconic F1 experience. Housed in a grand, colonial-style building that was once the General Post Office, staying in this national monument feels special and steeped in history. It places you right in the heart of the action, with classic views of cars braking hard for Turn 13 and speeding over the historic Anderson Bridge. The rooms themselves blend the building’s historic charm with today’s five-star comforts, providing a private and comfortable retreat from the trackside crowds. For a relaxing break, the options are superb. You can indulge in the classic afternoon tea in the magnificent, sun-drenched The Courtyard, or escape to The Fullerton Spa for a restorative Asian heritage treatment. As evening falls, enjoy a sophisticated drink at The Lighthouse, which offers a stunning, peaceful panorama of the bay.
Service was refined and thoughtful, and the location made it easy for leisurely walks around Boat Quay and the Merlion area.
Sector 3: The Waterfront
This is where the Singapore Grand Prix becomes a true visual spectacle. As the cars sweep around the waterfront, they are framed by the glittering lights of the bay and the iconic city skyline. This sector is famous for producing the postcard images of the night race, including the unique section where the track ducks under a grandstand. A room with a view of this sector offers a breathtaking panorama and a front-row seat to the most picturesque part of the circuit.
Mandarin Oriental, Singapore
Offering a prime view of the complex from Turn 15 onwards as cars sweep around the waterfront, the newly transformed Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, is a top choice for luxury. Having reopened in late 2023 after a major renovation, the hotel feels fresh and inviting. The building’s architecture is unique, gently curving like an unfolding fan, a design that gives many rooms spectacular, floor-to-ceiling window views of the bay and the track. The rooms themselves are designed as serene sanctuaries, elegantly furnished to create a calm and comfortable environment. When it’s time to unwind, you have excellent choices. The hotel’s beautiful outdoor pool is a true oasis, surrounded by lush greenery, and The Spa offers a tranquil sanctuary for restorative treatments. For a sophisticated drink, the MO Bar provides creative cocktails with a stunning view, providing the perfect chilled-out setting to relax after a day of race excitement.
A Panoramic (But Distant) View Option
For some travelers, the goal isn’t to see the details of a single corner, but to appreciate the sheer scale and spectacle of the entire event. The following option is for those who want a breathtaking, wide-angle panorama. While you won’t be close enough to make out individual cars, you will get a mesmerizing view of the whole illuminated circuit snaking through the glittering city—a truly unforgettable sight that captures the magic of the Singapore night race.
Marina Bay Sands
For a truly spectacular and different kind of race weekend, Marina Bay Sands offers a breathtaking panoramic view. While not directly on the track, rooms facing the city on the upper floors provide a stunning, wide-angle vista of the entire illuminated circuit. You won’t see individual cars up close, but you will see the mesmerizing “snake” of lights moving through the city—a truly unforgettable sight. The rooms themselves are modern and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make the incredible view the star of the show. The real draw here is the sheer scale of the integrated resort; when you need a break, you have a world of entertainment and relaxation at your doorstep. You can escape to the serene Banyan Tree Spa for a restorative treatment, browse the high-end boutiques at The Shoppes, enjoy a sophisticated cocktail at a rooftop bar like Spago or CÉ LA VI, or relax in the iconic rooftop infinity pool—the ultimate place to float above the city and take in a view that is famous around the world.
Important Tips for the Best Experience
Always Double-Confirm Your View
This is the most crucial tip. When booking, we suggest contacting the hotel directly to confirm that your specific room will have a view of the track. Room category names can sometimes be general, so a quick call or email can ensure you get the experience you’re hoping for.
Enhance Your View with Live TV
A great pro-tip we’ve learned is to turn on the TV in your room to the local Channel 5 broadcast. This allows you to watch the close-up action, replays, and commentary while still hearing the roar and seeing the real cars fly by your window. It’s the best of both worlds.
Consider Your Room Height
A higher floor can give you a wider view of the city, but it might not be the best for seeing the cars right below. From a very high floor, you may have to look almost straight down, which can be an awkward angle. We’ve found that a room on a mid-level floor often provides the best balance—a great view that isn’t too far above the action.
Plan Your In-Room Dining & Drinks
Race nights are the busiest time for in-room dining. To avoid long waits, consider pre-ordering your meals or placing your order well before peak times. It’s also a great idea to stock your mini-fridge with your favorite drinks and snacks beforehand, so you have everything you need for your own private viewing party without any interruptions.
Pack a Pair of Binoculars
While the view from your room is fantastic, the cars move incredibly fast. A small pair of binoculars can make a huge difference, allowing you to get a closer look at the details on the cars, the drivers’ helmets, and the action in the pit lane if your room happens to overlook it. It’s a small thing to pack that adds a lot to the experience.
Understand Your Hotel Access Pass
Remember that your hotel will be located within the official F1 circuit park. To get through the security cordons and back to your hotel with ease, you will be issued a special hotel access pass or wristband for each day. Be sure to carry this with you at all times when you leave the hotel, as you will need it to re-enter the area.
Book Well in Advance
These specific track-facing rooms are highly sought after. To avoid disappointment, planning and booking many months, or even a year, ahead is often necessary.
Bonus Tip: Catch the Post-Race Fireworks
A highlight of the weekend is the spectacular fireworks display over Marina Bay that happens shortly after the race concludes. You can get a perfect private view from nearly every hotel in this guide, but there are a couple of exceptions to keep in mind. Rooms at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay generally don’t face the promenade. Similarly, if you’re staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, be sure to request a room with a Sector 3 view, as the rooms facing Sector 1 do not have a view of the fireworks.
Our Closing Thoughts
Every traveler has their own idea of a perfect trip. Whether you want a panoramic bird’s-eye view or a closer look at a key overtaking zone, the most important thing is finding an experience that feels right for you. We hope these observations and tips help you find the spot that feels just right for your own comfortable and memorable race weekend in Singapore.
